Zippo Dries Out Quickly

The Sinti

E 'the year 1498 when the Adige Valley is crossed by a caravan Colorful which raises anxiety and curiosity in the population. They are the Gypsies. When you reach the outskirts of Merano are stopped and surrounded by guards. You can imagine the fat bourgeois and rough stone walls with curious villagers appear, put the nose of the flowers in the balcony, they, along the river had seen plenty of passing armies, merchants and royal processions. The Gypsies, however, are quite different. Better stay away even if those fascinated with their bright colors, that incomprehensible language, those exotic features and the merry notes. But Merano, engaged in commerce since time immemorial, are intolerant of disturbance and that the gypsies taken away as soon as the curtains allocate the sum of ten guilders for their supply and certainly take leave of this "disturbing people." A After half a millennium is hard to tell if something has changed. Gypsies are an element of social contradiction that disturbs the quiet life and that is painting, in the discharge of conscience, with the darkest hues. Just that distant 1498 Diet of Augsburg decreed: 'Whoever harms a gypsy does not commit a crime. " A measure that was fully applied in particular during the Second World War when six hundred thousand members of the 'disturbing people "have concluded their first road in the gas chambers and then in ovens. Why were gypsies. Auschwitz in 1944 just as stringent, but less generous than at Merano at the end of 1400: this for those who believe that the gypsies have evolved over the centuries. We notice immediately that maybe in our history books is something missing. Already, the story. Here is another shortcoming of the Gypsy people. And 'no history (but not without memory). They are, perhaps, India. But when they left? A thousand or fifteen hundred years ago? And why? They fled from a war, a famine? Or were indeed called in Persia because experts in precious metals and why experienced players? Their history is lost in the mists of time. Not like ours, which is codified in books, sculpted in the stones, especially those of cemeteries or of the streets, proclaiming victory and defeat (a lot of history but little memory). The Gypsies have no country, or their home is the road. A long road, I know, is not made to come to a stop. Contradictory element for a company that while it is an idol of the flexibility and mobility, on the other we discover every day unable to cope with new and old challenges that gradually arise. The gypsies know when the time has come, to abandon the cart, the horse and the anvil. If our way of life confuses them and keeps them on the edge, but then know how to keep reworking identity and traditions, from time to time, relations with the sedentary world. What people need, that of gypsies. Awaken in Gagi (non gypsies) anger and love. It nourishes the poetry and art, but also falls prey to the horrors more grim, as the act of a Mengele personally who pushes his little gypsy four years towards the door of the gas chamber. Gypsies are among us. Often remote and surrounded by guards, as in 1497. Along the Adige Valley (Merano, Bolzano, Appian, Salorno) or Bressanone live, like all people, with their strengths and their weaknesses. Disturbing people for a thousand or fifteen hundred years perhaps what saves them is the way, the awareness of the need to walk hereditary. Who will tell them? "It will be those who remain, I will follow this migration, I will follow this line of wings." By: http://antonello30.tripod.com/zingari.htm
